Position Description

The Department of Medicine of McGill University, Division of Dermatology, invites applications for a full-time clinician-educator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.  This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The successful candidate will also be appointed to clinical practice in the Department of Medicine, Dermatology Division at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).

The Department of Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is a leader in academic medicine. The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is one of McGill’s major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.

As a clinician-educator, the candidate will focus on education research of sufficient caliber to publish in peer-reviewed journals or education administration with a focus on leading/developing world class training programs.

The candidate is also expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (teaching and supervision of clinical trainees, research and involvement in academic and administrative committees) and will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in these activities.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Candidates must hold an MD degree and must have completed specialty training in Dermatology;
  • Candidates must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensure in Quebec and certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec;
  • At least one additional year of clinical and /or research training is required or hold a recognized MSc or PhD degree in biomedical/medical sciences;
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are essential;
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
