Pledges & Donations

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Named Lectures

The SID Named Lectures-Beerman, Kanof, Montagna, and Stone- and the Blank Forum have long been held as treasured highlights of the annual meeting. Speakers at these sessions have helped establish the SID and its annual meeting as the premier scientific forum in dermatology and cutaneous biology. Presentations not only provide outstanding science, but also pay tribute to individuals who were so important in shaping the early days of the SID.
The SID Board of Directors has launched a fund drive to secure the legacy of these programs.  We need your help to achieve adequate funding to present these lectures every year!  Please help us take our first steps towards reaching this goal.

Stephen I. Katz, MD, PhD International Lectureship Award

Your contribution will support an endowed lectureship with a monetary award be established to honor Dr. Stephen I Katz’s many contributions to the science of the immunology of the skin; his mentorship and training of many skin researchers and academic leaders throughout the world; his administrative contributions as Director of the NIAMS including his championing the funding of cutaneous biology and clinical dermatology research; and his devotion to diversity with openness to all those who were involved in these missions.

As Dr. Katz has been instrumental in building a global community of scientists devoted to skin research, and has had important influences on the leadership of not only the SID, but also the ESDR, the JSID and the ISID, this memorial lecture, and his ongoing remembrance, will be rotated among these organizations. The selected awardee will be a mid-career investigator who has performed groundbreaking research
in cutaneous biology, clinical dermatology, and/or administration of biomedical science impacting on dermatology.

Travel Fellowships

The SID is committed to fostering and nurturing the careers of young investigators. The most vulnerable of our community of scholars and scientists are those investigators at the beginning of their careers, either as postdoctoral fellows or junior faculty.  They desperately need our support—material, financial, and personal—through mentorship, friendship, and funding.
It is likely that despite generous funding for travel fellowships from the AAD World Congress, the Kligman Estate, and the ESDR, approximately 70% of the travel grant applications for the IID meeting will not be funded. You can help.
As SID members, your contributions to the Travel Fellowship Fund can make a real difference in the future career trajectory of young investigators. These promising individuals, who represent the future of our field, will have the opportunity to share insights, best practices, and ideas from different continents and cultures. Financial support is something that they cannot do without.

A gift of appreciated securities provides distinct advantages over cash. For example, you are eligible to take a federal income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift for up to 30% of your adjusted gross income. In addition, you will not have to recognize the appreciation as capital gain, thereby minimizing your capital gains tax liability. Securities may also be used to establish a trust, which may provide additional advantages by further minimizing income and estate taxes.

For details on making a gift or transferring stock, please contact Rebecca Minnillo at the SID office at 216-579-9300 x305 or
