He has served to accelerate discovery in his own research, and via his collaborations with Industry.

Irene Leigh, MD, is a Professor at the University of Dundee, and her research has centered around all aspects of keratinocyte biology from studying basic epithelial differentiation into disease applications, particularly the molecular mechanisms of skin cancer, genetic disease and tissue engineering and she is widely recognized as an international leader in those fields.

Her group has made major contributions to the understanding and treatment of human disease, including Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers, and Wound Healing. She was also the Local Chair for the 2013 International Investigative Dermatology meeting in Edinburgh.
