Robert Swerlick, MD Biography
Dr. Robert A. Swerlick is an Associate Professor of Dermatology and
Interim Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at Emory University
School of Medicine. Dr. Swerlick is a graduate of the University of
Virginia School of Medicine, where he also trained in Dermatology. He
served on staff at the University of Oklahoma prior to an
Immunodermatology Fellowship in the Dermatology Branch of the National
Cancer Institute. Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Swerlick
accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at Emory University where
he worked 19 years.
Dr. Swerlick is an internationally recognized researcher and clinician.
His research focuses on aspects of immunology and endothelial cell
biology, primarily focusing on regulation of the expression of key
vascular endothelial cell genes important in immunological responses.
Dr. Swerlick maintains an active clinical practice with a focus on
immunologically mediated skin diseases. He regularly teaches at the
American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) annual meeting. He also serves as
the Assistant Secretary Treasurer of the Society for Investigative
Dermatology (SID), is immediate past President of the Georgia Society of
Dermatologists (GSD). He serves on numerous committees and task forces
of the AAD, SID, and GSD. He has authored over 100 peer reviewed journal
articles and book chapters.
