Braham Shroot, PhD, has more than 35 years of experience in dermatology
drug development. As Barrier Therapeutics' Chief Scientific
Officer, he is responsible for managing all of the company's research
and development activities. Prior to joining Barrier in May 2007,
Dr. Shroot served as
Chief Scientific Officer, Vice President of Research and Development for
DFB Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company with branded
products that treat skin and soft tissue disorders. During his seven
years at DFB, Dr. Shroot oversaw the introduction of several new
products in the U.S., in addition to the preparation and submission of
U.S. and European regulatory filings for dermatologic and wound care
products. Previously, Dr. Shroot spent 13 years in various research and
development positions with Galderma S.A., including serving as
President, Galderma Research, Inc. in the U.S. and as Vice General
Manager of Galderma's R&D organization in France.
Dr. Shroot began his career in pharmaceuticals at Pfizer, where he was
part of the team that developed fluconazole and thioconazole. Dr.
Shroot is an inventor of over 60 patents, has authored several hundred
publications, served as editor of several books and is a member of the
editorial boards of some prestigious dermatology journals. He is
also a Board member of the Society of Investigative Dermatology, and the
Wound Healing Society. He received his PhD in organic chemistry
from Glasgow University, where he also completed his undergraduate
studies and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry.
