Advocacy

The SID serves as an advocate and resource for increasing public and government awareness of the needs for, and advances resulting from, cutaneous biology research. In order to support that vision, the SID engages in a variety of advocacy activities. As representatives of the research component of dermatology, members meet with the elected officials responsible for federal appropriations. In addition, SID leaders conduct regular meetings with Directors of the National Institutes of Health whose institutions maintain a skin disease portfolio.
